Work day at MTB Park a success
The work day at the Odessa Mountain Bike park was very productive. We had about 15 volunteers all with a lot of enthusiasm. We managed to put about 2 more gallons of paint on the trail to better mark the routes. More signs were also erected at trail junctions . We added two new berms in the North pit and repaired and enhanced three berms in the south pit area. The main effort however was focused on fixing the trail sections that get submerged every time it rains. We built up dirt at the area over by the gas well, constructed an earthen bridge in the low spot just before bridge (also over by the gas well), and last but not least we built an 80 ft bridge just below Ridge Line In the area that always turns into a lake after each rain.
Every ones contribution was huge but I would like to especially thank Micky Navarrete - owner of Odessa Electro-Mechanical - for donating four telephone poles and for getting his fork lift at 8 PM to help us load when we realized four of us couldn't lift the telephone poles. Further I want to thank David Belew and Joe Wallender for bringing the tractor/ front loader and Bobcat. Also, thanks to Odessa Family Powersports for loaning us an ATV for the day. Without the heavy equipment we couldn't have built the bridges or the berms.
