Work Day at OMBP 7/9
PBBA members and friends,
I have scheduled a club work day on Saturday, July 9th, from 7 AM until approximately 11 AM. We need to clean up the damage caused by the rainstorm last week which washed out some sections of the trail and created a lot of sandy spots and loose rocks. Taylor Saxton and his fellow Eagle Scouts, and some friends have volunteered to come out and paint one of the bridges, build two or three berms, pick up large amounts or trash, and build a low relief "roller coaster" ramp. The City of Odessa will deliver a large dumpster to the parking lot for us to dispose of any trash we gather. I encourage any members and friends to join us and help improve the park.
I recommend volunteers bring gloves, eye protection, and wear appropriate footwear to hike around the rocky terrain. If you can, please bring a tool to work with. The most effective tool for working and cleaning the trail is a hoe, but other good tools include rakes, shovels, and clippers to cut back the mesquite.
We will bring some bottled water but you may want to bring your hydro-pack and be sure to stay hydrated.
Thank you and I hope you can make it. Even if you can only come for an hour or two it would really help.
Best regards,
Stephen Mitchell
